Head of Origination, Southeast
Southern Power
Kirk works as a Southern Power Business Development Director, executing Southern Power’s growth strategy by leading the Southeast Business Development team. This team is responsible for wholesale electric deal origination and customer care activities in the region.
Currently, his team’s focus is on developing power supply proposals, negotiating wholesale power contracts and providing a primary point of contact for our customers. Kirk and his team spend a lot of time getting to know their customers and potential customers, so they can understand each of their unique business needs.
“The energy industry is always changing. Over my career, I have seen the electric industry transition to rely more on natural gas and increasingly, on wind and solar.”
Kirk joined Southern Power’s business development team in 2001 and has worked for Southern Company for 27 years. He started with Southern Company Services (SCS) in the internal auditing department; he also held positions at SCS in wholesale market analysis, and resource planning and procurement.
Kirk graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
“Having worked at Southern Power since its inception, I have been able to contribute to and see our growth from a startup company to a large, nationwide wholesale electric provider.”
A native of Savannah, Ga., Kirk now lives with his family in the Sagamore Hills neighborhood of Dekalb County. When not working, you will likely find Kirk on the tennis court participating in one of Atlanta’s many leagues. He is also a big fan of the Atlanta Falcons and has been a season ticket holder for nearly 20 years.
