“We’re always trying to stay on top of new products in the market and meet with our customers to know what’s going on in their world. It’s important for both our existing and potential customers for us to understand what their future may look like. Internally, that translates into us working closely with our peers to develop project solutions tailored to the customers’ needs.”
Before joining Southern Power’s business development team, Craig worked as a co-op with Southern Company, as well as Southern Company Services in long-term resource planning, generation development and was a member of the federal energy initiative team. Craig graduated with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech before earning his Master of Business Administration at Samford University in Alabama.
Among many other projects at Southern Power, Craig led the joint development agreement from the origination side between Southern Power and RES (Renewable Energy Systems).
“The energy industry is deeply intertwined into our day-to-day lives and its impact is growing as electrification increases with new products like electric vehicles. This role allows us to focus on the customer to provide a reliable and low-cost product to them, which impacts every piece of our lives.”

Learn more about what our team is up to during our quick Q&A sessions. Let's meet Craig!
Where do you call home? I grew up Raleigh, N.C.
Describe your energy market in three words. Regulated, progressive and growing.
What are your hobbies? I play soccer and tennis.
What’s the best vacation you’ve taken? A trip to Hawaii in 2018 is the best vacation I’ve taken. We spent five days on Maui and five days on Kaui, where we traveled the road to Hanna and did the Jurassic Park helicopter tour. They land at the waterfall, and when you’re flying through the canyon, they turn on the theme song. It was awesome.
Favorite food. Cheese and maybe lasagna – like Garfield.
If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? I’m going to go with a machete, a flint fire starter and a pot. Each of these just have a multitude of uses.
Tell us something we might not know about you. I collect Starbucks mugs from different locations that I’ve travelled. I have a Google map with all of the places tagged where my mugs have come from. Hawaii is probably my farthest-reaching mug, and I have probably somewhere around 70 mugs.
What is the last book you read? I’m currently reading “The Expanse” Si-Fi series by James Corey. Currently, I’m midway through book three, and there’s eight or nine books and counting. They’ve recently turned it into an Amazon show.
Tell us something on your bucket list. I would like to go to Egypt to see the pyramids and visit the National Egyptian Museum in Cairo. I want to see King Tut’s mask.
What is the first thing you’d buy if you won the lottery? I’m going to go with the practical answer and pay off my house. With the leftover money, I’d splurge on a corvette.
What is your biggest pet peeve? This could be a broad category; I’ve got a lot of pet peeves. Most of them surround people that inconvenience everyone else, like stopping in the middle of a crowded space. It happens all the time in airports.
Do you have a hidden talent? I’m pretty good at soccer. I play everywhere, but more defensive. In high school and college, I was goal keeper which I don’t think people would assume.
What are you currently watching on Netflix? I don’t have Netflix, but I’m watching “The Expanse” on Amazon.
