Steve works as a Southern Power Business Development Manager, executing Southern Power’s growth strategy by originating long-term sales, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and tolling agreements out of Southern Power’s generating assets in the Southeast.
Currently, his focus is developing and maintaining relationships with key customers. He also leads a cross-functional team to develop pricing and proposal terms.
“My favorite part of the energy industry is providing a product to our customers that everyone uses and needs. Over the past 18 years I’ve worked to build long-term relationships with customers and internal team members. I have negotiated many PPAs with customers that have contributed to Southern Power’s net income goals and maintained a high contract coverage ratio for our assets.”
Before joining Southern Power’s business development team, Steve has worked more than 15 years in natural gas origination, marketing and transportation.
Steve graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management from University of Tennessee – Knoxville.

Where do you call home? I grew up in East Tennessee.
What is your current role at Southern Power? I am a Business Development Manager, executing Southern Power’s growth strategy by originating long-term sales (PPAs and tolling agreements) out of Southern Power’s generating assets in the Southeast.
Describe your energy market in three words. Economically strong, relationship driven, changing.
What are your hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my family, running, working out, snowboarding and skiing.
What’s the best vacation you’ve taken? Colorado - snowboarding and skiing.
Favorite food. Indian food is my favorite.
If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? I would bring my Bible and photos of my wife and kids.
Tell us something we might not know about you. I love to play board games.
What is the last book you read? I recently read Swindoll’s Living Insights – Commentary on the Book of Revelation, by Charles Swindoll.
Tell us something on your bucket list. I would like to go snowboarding in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
What is the first thing you’d buy if you won the lottery? I would buy a house in Colorado.
What is your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is when people are late.
Do you have a hidden talent? Nothing comes to my mind.
What are you currently watching on Netflix? I’m currently watching The Great British Bake Off.
